you said okay
when I said be good
but you took it wrong
as you adjusted your hem
and became proper again

when the train came
you were on the other side
of the suggestion
I watched the wind
move your hair around

and that smile every so many
spaces between the cars
just a hint of wicked
the real good kind
that I had been waiting for

we are on the same side
of the tracks now
and seldom notice the cars
or what is proper
and hems don't even matter

since we are both so very very good
