I am, it would seem, a marked man And if I’d spent any time at all Looking into a mirror I may have noticed it earlier It was my image in a photo That first brought it to my attention The mark, that is Not the “Mark of the beast” Nor that of Cain And not so much a birthmark As I would think, a lifemark Made from my own flesh And it’s a Lu Lu, a Doozy, A real Classic A large “X” drawn across my face And intersecting right, smack, dab Between my eyes Disconcertingly crosshair-like So, perhaps this means I am merely a chit, now cancelled An item that been crossed off Some celestial list Or, my “X” is simply the signature Of the illiterate god who fashioned me |

I bet there is a queue for mirrors now and all the toilet doors are locked, with a queue outside locked in other and strange ways. Reminds me a bit of a kid comic book hero in the UK - Desparate Dan who used to spit bullets and eat Cowhide pie complete with bull's horns. Good write. Dave |
