When she is not near
there comes this feeling
   hard to describe,
caught somewhere between
sad     and lonely.
Tis not so much an aching
but more as though    a void
felt deep within
the core   of me.

Her departure
leaves my soul
           amiss,
the warmth and comfort
  she provides;
         no longer present.

Even on the brightest of days
there is a certain lack of luster
    that lingers            and a longing
      to once again
                hear her voice.

Knowing that she will again
      someday        return
brings forth faint smile,

and a pondering

      of how long....

How long will it be
  until my muse      once again
    returns home    to me?

In her absence, she is missed.

The greatest beauty on earth, is
found in the hearts of those
who love....

dear donna, know exactly what you mean, adding...its nice to find muse in all things...there was a moment, upon specifically finding that...after a loss...a great one...and the ocean sang her songs to me...she was the first, then came others, until slowly but most certainly, nature showers her all.....

Lovely write missy...loved this much

Morning Donna...
Does not appear your muse is missing in this beautiful write.
Lovely lovely plea for her to come home.
And I do believe it worked!
Hugs~Nancy

I think any poet, male or female, feels a certain aching hollow when their muse has taken a haitus...I know that is how I experience the loss, and I have yet to deign myself as a true poet, but still a learning, eager, hungry trier of word...and yet?  I know the ache of the absence...

Excellent work here, little one...

you got me with it.

Yes, I agree with everone else, it appears she isn't missing in the piece. This is great, well done Aunt of mine.

How very strange, I felt this so deeply but when you said, "muse" I stopped right there, and had to start reading it again, as I connected it to a person, and that is good poetry, as I got lost in it, and remembered a person.

Oh well, I know what I am talking about that is all really that counts LOL.

Lovely Donna, and looks like she is not lost just playing with ya.

Donna...I did the same as Sharon...thinking you were talking about a person that you lost...in a way, you were, of course...a part of you, and a special part of you, who I see you've found again.

Hi Donna ... it doesn't appear to me that she is missing. I loved the gentle longing that you write about in this poem. Made me wish I could find her for you.

I shall look for her in my mountains.

hugs, Marti

Like Mysteria, I was thinking of someone I'm missing... until the line about her returning. *S*

Beautiful work, sweet lady... she obviously wasn't absent for this! *S*

I'm not so sure your muse left?  Or maybe just took a coffee break.  This is a well-phrased and well-worded write.  Ken
