I'm sitting in a snow bank,
  with my assets freezing cold.
Old man winter’s blown his top,
and he has me in his hold.
I missed the bus to nowhere,
in the middle of this storm.
There is no place for me to hide,
  where it's safe and warm.
A candle burning brightly,
used to flame my inner fire.
But raging winds have snuffed it out,
  in these times of dire.
My spirit’s up and left me,
so I sit here all alone.
I'm going nowhere fast,
as I weep, and wail, and moan.
Northern winds are whistling,
  through the naked, barren trees.
And my force of life is waning,
as I slip away and freeze.

Please Note: Just poetry folks!

We don't live that far from each other, but it is a winter wonderland outside my window! Mind you, it is a dull, gray day!

I was cold while I was writing it! I was wearing flannelette p.j.s and a cozy bed jacket and big fluffy slippers with pom poms on them! ~ and still I felt cold in my basement office! Brrrrr

I think I'll go make myself and nice hot mug of mulled cider!

Now that is an invitation that I would definitely like to take you up on! ~ something warm to wet my whistle; something to fill my bread basket (a euphemism for my tummy); and some mentally stimulating conversation with a soul mate while we take in the splendour of your snow-laden New Hampshire mountains! I love seeing how your writing ability expands far beyond the things you know and feel, but you can imagine yourself in the painful shoes of another and write of it wonderfully!

(big angel hugs) Oh Linda, I'm glad that in your experience it's just a poem, but sadly there are many who indeed live like this every day, alone on the streets, homeless, cold, without shelter or loved ones to tune to for the holiday season! (wipes tears) Each day there are usually at least ten people who ask me, "Do you have any spare change?" with honest looks like they really need it, and even when most of the time I have none with me, I feel like a crook or guilty that I have nothing to offer. They are the ones I feel the most of all during the holiday season, and that is why every holiday season I volunteer at the rescue mission, and this is my first year in Portland so I'm excited to help out there for the first time beginning this weekend! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is a very heartwarming, compassionate poem, you have a golden heart, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Noah, like you, I have compassion for the homeless. It saddens me the number of people who are destitute and sleeping under train trestles and in the parks. Many of them freezing to death with no one to mourn their loss. It breaks my heart.

God bless you, Angel Boy!
Loving hugs,
Linda
