An acoustical apparition wings lightly by
on downy feathers, floating
in northern nightly skies

frolicking notes on a warm summer breeze,
swirling and twirling
through the wispy willow trees
that line the northern shores of
Forevermore.

Listen to the bewitching tune of the magical loon,
as he serenades his love throughout the night,
capriciously capturing hearts and minds along the way.
My eager ears crave the loon's song by day,
anxiously awaiting his glorious midnight melody
of sonnets and sonatas, ethereal bonnets
that cover my head in delicious dreams
of mystical madness,
lifting my spirits gently,
soaring my sights to heights
beyond my most fanciful dreams.

Oh, sit silently and listen with me
to the liquid love song of the loon,
as he sings of the eternal magnetic love affair
between the loon and midnite's moon.
I pray my heartsong stays in tune with the loon,
Forevermore.

“Then I heard wings overhead.

The cats and I chased the bat
in circles—living room, kitchen,
pantry, kitchen, living room. . . .
At every turn it evaded us

like the identity of the third person
in the Trinity: the one
who spoke through the prophets,
the one who astounded Mary
by suddenly coming near.”

From “The Bat”

I gotta agree with John here, there are no words else that can be said....
this was indeed, the third person speaking through your heart...how dearly beloved are you!  Wonderful sounds and candy eyes

I find of identify with the loon, but never know whether my voice is the long lonesome cry or the maniacal laughter.
This is such a neat write. There no bad loon stories.  Ken
