One Seed To Remember

It isn’t time for building now,
as shadows fall between;
but I hope you’ll hold somehow
the things that might have been.

There is a special place we know,
a place we’ve longed to be;
bring a seed, next time you go,
and plant it there for me.

A quiet gift, one simple task,
yet this alone will serve
and secrecy is all I ask,
though more than I deserve.

Don’t toss it out if you do give,
for random winds to blow;
but plant a tree where it may live,
a flower where flowers might grow.

Just one seed for a memory,
not many out of pride;
if nothing grows, as well may be,
remember that it died.

Jamie

To plant a seed is a lovely idea....makes me remember one Christmas, when I didn't have much money....I gave a package of Christmas tree seeds to my special people.

This poem is very touching...made me do the sniff thing.

With a verse like this, we're liable to bring enough seeds to create a forest!
Enjoyed, JAF

I don't cry prettily... but loveliness does bring tears. *S* And this is beautifully sad, my friend... poignant perfection.

I have loved and lost... I have mourned what was never mine... both hurt like hell... one does not usurp the pain of the other. But the losing at least leaves memories... And when the path ahead seems darkest, looking back beats having no place to look at all.
