I seek her splendor in the night,
Fair muse who pens with passion’s bite,
In lilting voice of nightingale,
She sings alone in shadowed veil
Within soft cast of Luna’s glow,
Unto a man who pines below
To hear the beauty of her song,
To feel the ache of lover’s long,
Where have you gone my muse so fair?
Red satin lips, black silken hair,
Angel bathed in Luna’s light,
I yearn thy kiss, muse of the night,
Beauty of a midnight moon,
Causing man and beast to swoon,
With your song you mesmerize,
From far reach of starlit skies,
Your throbbing verse my heart entwines,
With succulence of sweetest wines,
But yet she hides beyond my reach,
Her battlements I cannot breech,
What device might I employ,
So that I might, her odes enjoy,
To once again touch on a star,
To hear fair muse, from skies afar?

To call to her, this will I send,
Just but a whisper on the wind,
Touching not upon her being,
Just a breath, of one man's fleeing,
Searching, seeking in the night,
To bathe in glow of heaven's light,
No more to hear life's sad lament,
But melodies, from fair muse sent,
A nightingale, to hear her sing,
To calm my soul, her feathered wing,
To lift aloft with lilting call,
To touch me with gods' madrigal.
Clear crystal notes of warbling lute,
Refreshing breeze forth heaven's flute,
Encaptured in night's symphony,
Enraptured in her melody,
As sweet as song of whippoorwill,
Music from her poet's quill,
Sings of splendor, love's extol,
With beauty of a poet's soul,
So when you feel upon your face,
A whispered breath, reveal your grace,
Allowing but a mortal being,
To end his search, to end his fleeing.

Whispered breath of muse's song,
Madrigals of passion's long,
Fall on my ear in satin voice,
Terpsichore, in love's rejoice,
Soothing hymns, upon my soul,
Her cooling breeze, mine heart extol,
Forevermore, Fair Muse, I long,
Whispered breath, of muse's song.
Soft caress of longing finger,
Feathered touch of passion's linger.
Drawing nigh, sweet angel's grace,
On weathered skin, doth beauty trace.
With gentle hand, Muse draws me near,
Her healing balm, strokes down my fear,
On Luna's beams; Eros doth bring her,
Soft caress of longing finger.
A muse, a spirit, calling me?
Perhaps a nymph in distant tree?
Nay, she's not, she is the wind,
Gift from the gods, to me they send,
To breathe her songs of love immortal,
To carry me through heaven's portal.
