Holidays sometimes are sad, when aches are in your heart
Wondering how in your childs life, you can be more a part
You think of how when they were young, playing with games and toys
All around the living room were laughs, fun, and joy

Then they are older, having their own family
They lead their own lives, you they rarely see
Sometimes they move far away, many thousands of miles
You miss them so very much, but still try to keep the smiles

You are grateful for the little time that they give to you
Still wishing one day they'll find time to include you in what they do
You know you've much to be thankful for, many friends and family
You just long for your child, more a part of your life to be

There are so many blessings you have, warm clothes, food, good place to sleep
Many others in our world don't have that, even warm clothes, they can't keep
So even if during this holiday season, I be sad on some day
Will still be thankful for blessings I have, and my prayers remember to say

Its nice to concentrate on the positive things we have, it is also a good thing to give to people in need My son and I put a present under the wishing tree for a child that needs a smile. I am looking forward to sharing those mornings with him as he grows older he is almost 2 time flys doesnt it.

Thank you, Dixie. I'm glad that you liked it.

And, Julie, thanks for liking my poem, too.
And, yes, it seems like only yesterday that your
baby was born. This is going to be a fun Christmas
for you with him. He'll love all the bright lights and
Santa Claus and things. Oh, my daughter and her family
are planning to move to the Tampa area from Massachusetts,
as soon as they can. Even though I live in Northwest Florida,
we will still be in the same state. We are talking a
lot on the phone now, so things are better with us.
That's sweet about the gift you and your son put there.
Hugs to you both,
Ethel
