I’m older now and know
walls have arms and legs
and the stroke of midnight
their time to move and grow.

They’re closing in on love
breathing in the air I need
but sly and sneaky, slow,
no one else knows this is so
until the postman knocks
and the door stays firmly locked.

But come the morn the walls
recede with all due grace
and appear pure and innocent
like a child born yesterday.

Tonight I sit enthralled
captivated by movement
but I should be so lucky
to escape the wrath of life
simply sitting waiting
for those mean and hungry walls
to pounce and mingle blood
with the likes of bricks and mortar.

Walls are merely walls;
who says they move at all
except the one who suffocates
yet lives to see the dawn!

Helen

Instead of looking at it as a bad thing, consider that you have a gift, to see things that most can't.  I'll bet you see some wonderful things too.  Like the hearts in the stars beating maybe, after the walls turn to air and let you outside.

Thank you so much for that, Martie. Yes, I do see some wonderful things but if it's a gift, it's not discriminating and therefore allows sight of the bad as well.  There's too much bad in the world and I'm tired.  No wonder I suppose because it's 3.00am here now.

Helen

Shhhh, go lay down...if you can see, then you can also hear me singing you a lullaby.   Peace to you this night, my friend.
