I am stuck in my wonderings today,
the dark my preference.
Each tear a touch of memory,
a trickle of better times
when fear couldn't grab a hold.

It's the loss of touch,
the minus of hugs,
the lessened feelings
remembering that of lips,
and the sighing
trying not to hyperventilate
the aloneness.

I can't understand why
and yet I manage to go on,
anxiety being pushed back
just enough for survival...
feeling safe inside myself
rarely able to really say what it is
wishing an out.

"It's the loss of touch,
the minus of hugs,
the lessened feelings..."

yes it is exactly.

Many share these sentiments. I do. So in that sense we aren't alone but it doesn't solve the touch aspect. I mentioned it commenting elsewhere but an elderly woman brushed back my hair the other day, a natural act for her (a good woman by any standards) but it was bittersweet for though I yet feel that gift it reminded me that it has been longer than I dare say since I've had physical contact beyond a handshake. Consider this a hug.

From the heart to say the least.  Your words come through this screen, I wish I could convey thoughts as easy as you.  Enjoyed this.
