Not There

I needed to write happy,
if I could just do that I’d be all right;
and I did, I wrote a happy thing
but I wasn’t in the poem.
I needed to write strong,
even a story that wasn’t mine
or wasn’t even true but gave
its strength back to me.
So I did, I wrote strong,
but I wasn’t in that poem.
I needed to write hope
and oh I did write, with that old song
whispering over the storm,
but I wasn’t in the whisper
and it wasn’t in me.
I needed to write so many,
life and love and winning,
grace and joy and a happy ending,
and I did it all. Such words I wrote,
and I searched them high and low
but I wasn’t in a single one.
Then I wrote a poem
that was only true, only me,

I found I wasn’t anywhere at all:
the  page was blank.

Strange, how random thoughts feel blank
but are still...right...there...

even when written in invisible ink.

Strong, emoting write, this...
I'm glad you could...

now...

do it again.

James,
Winking... I know what you mean.  Perhaps, you are written in anothers thoughts and don't even realize it!  Whoops--it must be true, as I see Sunshine and I have responded.  You have many friends at Passions.  Hope you have a good day,

As wonderful as the poem is… it makes me so very, very sad… The only response I can make is this…

To write happy things, making life right for others when nothing’s right for you
To write strength, when you’re too busy being supportive to recognize your own
To write hope, when despair is nibbling away your very existence
To rise above anquish and write with persistence things that seem out of reach
To find a page blank because so much has been given… and then give still more
To be not there for yourself because you’re everywhere for everyone else
Is to be someone whose self and sacrifices are perhaps too often appreciated in silence
And so goes unknowing how very vital they are.

You write excellence in every word, my friend… but I so hope you write fiction. *S*

Jamie

"I needed to write happy,"

I sure do understand ....you wrote this feeling with tears.
