She sat against the old face
Where lichen grew softest facing north
And stared out over the skin of her
That wore cold stones of sky tonight
As no clouds pushed their way across heaven
Leaving her to lie calm

“Show me shadows again”
she said as she half turned herself towards me
as I stood quietly to one side
lost in my own reverie of muse
that lay words half down on paper
only to be blown away with each exhale I consumed

“Come” I answered as I drew from pocket
small bladed knife.

“Stand here”

She stood and looked at me
Pale mouthed eyes begging hungrily

And I began
To draw at her feet a circle with the knife
Cutting loose black wet with ease

“Here,” I said “Are dreams”

and drew again on ground a figure of a man

“Look inside them both my friend”
and you will see where shadows begin

She sighed as I watched her stare

“ Like this” I said, and took her hand
placing it over my heart

“Close your eyes and see”

“See the shadows you make in me”

I kissed her then
  Slow lips touching tender disbelief

And shadows
                     Longer grew

Mmmmmm - love the feel of this - the sensual and tender - the subtle passion play -

We've got to get someone to come up with a hanky alert...

that, or I am just overly emotional today...because this one was most definitely a tear-jerker of the best, heartfelt, kind...

thank you, Cap'n!

It's all your fault.
