She licks at the bareness of my feet,
the cool, soothing tongue of her wave.
I am reminded that the end gives way for begin.

Crash, recede.

Life, oceans, people.
Recycling.

Her salt or mine?
Makes no difference really.
It mixes well and stings either way.

I have walked this road before
and should know where it goes
but never where it ends.

I think if I always knew the ending
I might run the other way
missing some of the sights,

maybe even some of the pain.

Some of which is necessary
in order to keep going,
keep making progress.

Thankful that lost blood
is regained
and so shall my footing be.

She wraps me in her wet cocoon
of blue,
baptizing another new start

and I weep for the chance.

into this night i wonder, it's morning that i dread, another day of knowing of, the path i fear to tread.
