Disappointment gets easier
with every thrust
I no longer
mourn what I thought was us

Today spills into
tomorrow
and seeps color into yesterday
reminding it's best not to betray

what hurts and what was lost
how blood can pay the cost

I shrug and wipe up saline tears
shuffling aimlessly
biting off the years

"cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind"
~Sarah McLachlan~

Dear Susan, this is a wonderful write.

Great inspiration seems to flow along with tears ...

I'm still getting there but it's nice to know that others have succeeded.  Lovely write!

Susan

I'd love to see the longer version of this

It seems short-changed somehow in the words

It is excellent but incomplete

lol...

You asked for it Dave...

The reason it is short changed (yes, you are right) is because I was doing my meter count on my right hand with a kitten in my lap...

ouch...I gave up adding to the poem least I lose a finger...

Thank you all for the responses...
