If artificial life was real
and trapped life a steal
might one become an authentic man
endure the trials of real life span?
but that's absurd, artificial is false
far removed from what is genuine...

If one could really wake from this sleep
allow one live company of one to keep
a mother might be the pick of a crop,
her love would make any child stop

The child ripped from parental bosom
vied for solace from artificial sorts
invaders of his lost arc,
robbed him of her knowledge
his experiences, once unique
now cloned among their faceless kind
upon a gentle touch of his forehead.

A fair child remains behind
after mankind falls away
to have a wish come true
from a fairy colored blue
to see his mother alive once again
she'd wake from a deep imposed sleep
but eternal life wouldn't be hers to keep

She'd be revived for one day only
to keep the child happy
he knew so little of her
as an example of an artificial world
far from being tucked in bed
hair straight with sorrow, once curled
he'd draw pictures for her pleasure
she'd celebrate his birthday too
their day together would then draw to an end
and he would close his eyes with hers
experience her sleep, enter her dreams
he wanted so much to be real,
pass away just as she had.

He would never be a real boy
he had been under artificial employ
if one could really awake from this sleep
allow one live company of one to keep

A futuristic riddle of ethics. "test tube babies," "cloning," incubators, surrogates, all very chilling. Love is warm. (hey, that's where this took me Martin) and I enjoy being made to think.
