Icy inhale
sears aching lungs
stings streaming eyes
Blame these tears
and gasping breath
on the weatherman

or on a fool
who stumbles outside
dressed in desperation,
trying to escape
her room of nothing

Beyond each door passed
is something, someone
One house holds happiness
another grief
They hold each other
against alone

I dwell in hell
of meaningless
stripped of belief
belonging nowhere
weary of wishing

And Santas ring
ridiculous reminders
It's a season of joy

Well, my suthern friend, you need some cheering up! Remember, the darkest before the dawn! I know that's trite, but it has often been my experience.

One of the things that has been lifting my spirits high ~ is a change of diet! I know, 'tis NOT the season! But I have been adding more alkaline foods in my diet and lessening the higher acid-forming foods. Foods behave differently once they are in your body. i.e. a lemon is actually an alkaline-forming food! Just check it out on the net. When your body is healthier ~ you can handle practically anything that life dishes out!

Sending you lots of love ~ and a big bunch of carrots!

Hello, sweet suthern lady. I understand this
very well. It's very hard to have the holiday
spirit when things aren't the way we would
like for them to be. It sems no matter how
hard we try to ignore those feelings, they're
still there.  Love you, sweet lady.

'tis sad this - and the holidays for many are a time of lonliness - sending you warm hugs and egg nog happies -

Holidays are, for many people, a depressing time. Thanksgiving barely resembling the humble familial gathering and Christmas far removed from the pious blessing of the meager manger. The modest exchange of gifts perverted by corporate commercialism and causing stress instead. Bring on New Years', at least it is what it is....cheers.

me thinks he'd buy you a eggnog for this one.

I think many of us feel this way at the holidays...like Richard says..all the stress makes us Scroogey

I know this feeling all too well, Laura....can't say that I've ever expressed it quite so poignantly as you do here, but I've had it more often than I like to admit.

I also know that joy and love are out there, but sometimes we have to go find them because so often when we need 'em most they seem to lose the beacon and wander off in the wrong direction. Your's is there, know that...and know you'll find it. I have, and you will too.

"weary of wishing"

hmm..me too.

I like to just concentrate on what I know is real.

Hmmm maybe a bit of rumcake without the cake to warm the chill a bit.  The above verse really speaks out and is so poetically awesome.  Nice write but now let's see if we can get an elf down there doing cartwheels do make you smile a bit.

suthern,
Hi there!   It seems so long since I've been here!  It's really good to read your poetry, but I'm hoping that elf will throw some happy sprinkles your way.  I know this can be a rough time. Oh, such are the vicissitudes of life (my dad's favorite quote when he didn't know what to say to help...).  Well, anyway, know that you have many caring friends here.
