Listening to every heart

Remembering her in special ways

I remember her at 50
I was but ten

she'd wave a hand, and delved
into age gracefully
slicing through air and
parting waters easily,
almost giddily
high styled and highly smiled

she magnifified the act
of wrinkling admirably,
carefully,
sensuously,
well.

I look at pictures of
forty, fifty, sixty years gone ~
she looked good,
always, always,
and while I'll never mirror her,

perhaps her genes
will fit my soul

I hope so, I would like
to carry on with her goals…

and if I mature…
when I grow old…

I’ll borrow her style
and class
knowing it’s no act
refining grace to polish fact

is an art defined
a part re-mined
through show and tell

as she told me, very well…

act the age within your heart
and the fountain of youth
will never depart.

Thank you, Grandmother,
for all of the gifts
you delivered
to me.

How sweet is this - I know this from my mother - who always reflected the girl even in the mirror of age - beautifully done -

your Granma knew what she was talking bout, some true advice above and you've penned a fine remembering.

Karilea, this is such a breautiful and loving tribute to your Grandmother. And, I agree with the others, you already have her grace, and her beauty.

Thanks for sharing your heart.

What a beautiful tribute to a much loved grandmother. I am quite sure you've already received her grace and class.

Like my grandmothers, you will always have her in your heart.

Dear Karilea, how beautiful! And yes no doubt you already mirror her gracefully!

I adored my own Grandmother too, what strength and grace she combined in her heart!

Thank you for this warm tribute.
Love and Joy.

The grace of your poem captures the grace of her character, as do you!  Ken

Sunshine,
She must have been quite a lady.  Gee I wish I'd age gracefully!  I even trip over the years, forgetting if my age ends in and 8 or a 9!  Maybe in a 7?  That even sounds better!   Enjoyed reading about such a wonderful woman!

Ah yes, Misc'e...she was QUITE the lady...

and I could go on about her attributes and her spunk, her spontaneity and witticisms...but I think I will go ahead and keep them for the moment, until they burst out in some untoward and unconventional poem, as she was that way, as well...

None of you could possibly comprehend at this moment just how much you all mean to me.  Thank you for all you have shared, not only of yourselves, but of your own kindred spirits, as well.

Shining One...aren't they such a wonderful
part of our lives....those precious and
golden memories that have so influenced us,
though often very subtle.    We sit, think
of them,  smile outwardly...sitting in our
own world...a world where they live with us,
one that only we know...

I think she rubbed off on you far more than
you might like to admit....and I believe
you will age just as gracefully and sensually
as she did...

And yes,  I do know...
