A Pagan prays...head down, in silence...

Earth, mother of all
I am your child, forgive me
I have sinned greatly,
*
Have soiled your sacred dress,
Made putrid, your veins, and breath.

Then out loud, he repeats,
Haudenosaunee words, at their best..

"We are a part of everything
That is beneath us,
Above us, and around us.
Our past is our present,
Our present is our future,
And our future is seven generations
Past and present."

His mind rests a while,
And he feels for a moment,
The warmth forgiveness-
*
Awareness brings... a healing,
Like smoke from a sacred pipe.

The high makes him dizzy with visions,
Of Black Elk ...
Who knew children were bathed in Gods light

"Grown men can learn
From very little children
For the hearts
Of little children are pure.
Therefore, the Great Spirit
May show to them many things
which older people miss."

But he is helpless,
Has no power to resist,
Legal placed burdens.
*
Knows that laws are guardians,
Of what those children can't bear.

And so he says another Prayer..

Blessings, great spirit,
I beg for mankind, forgiveness;
That rule the earth by bedlam.
*
Pray, men heed needs of children,
End mans greed, and forgive them.

And from smoke rising
Prayers ascend, Father hears
Peace settles over

"Let the wisdom of the aged
Be among all that will hear."

Amen.

Feeling purified;
Father peace has feather fanned,
Smoke of sage to cleanse...
*
Releasing from my body,
sins, that I confessed to him.

Black spirits rising
White smoke swelling to the skies
Waterfalls cleansing

Belief held in all that is
That one day this soul takes flight

a solemn "amen"

Susan

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.
