cigar store indian
with arrows
and bullet hole love
by the barber shop
that closed the day before
thanksgiving
one too many bald men
and the blind women

my feathers are still pretty
to the pigeons
and sparrows
and winter with her wind
that leaves the cellophane
wrapper of my cocoon
breathless I breathe
just one more laugh

then off to run the subway
like a stallion
with shoeless hooves
does cotton make songs
when the seamstress sows
bows for the coffins
to celebrate the birth
of a new day freedom

I dream of cocoa and taste lemon

I love those lines and the whole post as well.  It reminds me of home, long story, lol.  Thanks for the read, Steve.

Sir...
I understand or draw enough from your words to make my own understanding... and find this touches a few scars...
