I didn’t mean to write a poem
it was too cold
and I was crying ice
though the blanket wrapped me

Only alone and lost
I whispered under the skin of some fabric
tossed on to my under wire holding me up
no bounce just slide and slip it off

For you and you and even though off key
regret this simple moonlit cone of me

But I did
I wrote and a poem was
and I touched it with wondering
how could skin feel so soft
where did all this love come from
and all this jade from just a clock

I wrote a poem about
oh    there are too many things
too many to give a name
but mostly they are called love
and they are my babies
but I am not their mother

"I didn’t mean to write a poem"

(me either)

Y'think we're addicted?

but damn it feels good...

"where did all this love come from"

Oh yeah, lady. We are addicted.

(and hey? I've been addicted to worse! )

"I wrote a poem about
oh    there are too many things"

Yet somehow not enough???

Sure sign of addiction. grinning at you...

love you martie!

Just keep raising that bar, sissie...
and I'll keep trying to jump it.

This, sweetheart, is more than beautiful.
It thumps heartstrings,
and even the angels cry.

So very beautiful Martie..
and we do, at times, write poems about so many things...
and we don't even realize it.
You're so lovely lady~

The plaudits of your pip peers
Give to any most welcome cheers
It's good to see your have such dears
Honoring you with all their cares.

Beautifully done.  Ken

This poem makes me happy, and so sad.... You write sheer beauty, as ever, but I wish....wish I could take this away from you, make things turn brighter, so that your next poem would be full of light and life and the spun glass images that seem to flow from you in happy times.

You have defined the Zen of Poetry.

You are not the poet nor the poem but the flight of the poetic thought.
