This wood
burns well.
Resting beside the shore.

Those rocks across,
their distance kept,
so far away,
though desolate,
seem to me almost...comely.

I've been there.
Nothing grows.
It's a very hungry
island.

At one end a light burns
dim to warn the wary.

Perhaps some day
for reasons clearly
not my own,
someone will want to build a bridge
for going
and coming where nothing grows.

At that time,
free of charge,

I'll give him
all my nails.
