Living History

Echo, echo, echo
history prone to repeat itself–
criminal
returns to scene of crime–
humanity errs
its human tears,
fears–
you are what you eat,
regurgitating
what you swallow,
while you wallow
in the bed you’ve made,
or been bade
having not refused,
having bemused you had no say
anyway–
giving way
to the waves at hand–
lurching with the rise and fall
of swells that crawl
about the world
and one day
ending up beaching you
upon the sand
as urchins, waifs
belched up by Neptune’s
indigestion,
congestion,
infestation

I’ve decided,
“History in books
is easier to bear
than that which grows
before my eyes,
oblivious to my cries
and sighs
and shouted WHYS!”

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Powerful write...amazes me how few are willing to learn from the past.

Live like it's your last day...
Dance like nobody's watching...
Love like you've never been hurt...

Yes, how long will it take for the awakening, to escape this senseless repetition of history ... of bloodshedding?
Thank you for this impressive write.
Love,
Margherita
