As I stand in line, bored out of my skull
A pack of cigarettes, is all I dwell
Wondering if I would ever leave
Purgatory seems like a much better place to be

The sign say's no more than ten items please
Basket loaded, I tend to freeze
The cart is loaded, wait for me
All I want is a receipt and peace be with me

Poor cashier, she only tries
Not lashing out, she needs this job
Minium wage is what it's all about
Give her a break, don’t freak out

Candy and treats are set below our level
Temptations for the young, seduce our patience
Department of children and families will be notified
If you want to raise them, mind your own dam business

A sale on aisle three makes you run
Blue dishes for twelve dollars, are our calling
We can never have enough of those dam blue dishes,
I wish upon that yellow smiley face to make my wishes

The line is done now, so I should be grateful
A swipe of my card should only relieve me
Computer error still haunts me
I long for this to be over, just shoot me

The journey is done now, thank god for me
The path to the parking lot can only be
One more testament to my faith in man
Cigarettes are my only fan

God bless my only vice
I wish I could go cold turkey
Wellbutrin sounds great to me
That dam parking lot is not me

Impatience so well described indeed.

Those lines are a challenge, still I always tell myself that in the world there are so many who would love to be in my place, as they have nothing to stay in line for ...

You see the good thing is to ponder while you wait and that is what you did.

Good job.

Love, Margherita

I just grab one of those weekly magazines they sit in stands beside the check-outs and read...

into this night i wonder, it's morning that i dread, another day of knowing of, the path i fear to tread.

Maree, my favorite part about waiting is to see if Dick cheney really was abducted by aliens, lol.

Margherita, they say patience is a virtue, lol, thank you for reading, I just felt like writing something different today, renew the soul, sort of.

Well, you did write something different
and light...enjoyed, though the trip sure
did seem agonizing...Been there and done
that, so to speak.... Oh...I'll try hard
not to refer to you as a "target"....
