Sometime after the seas dried up
And all the creatures that had fought
To crawl to land were there
Leaving the remains of such bones
Of those who did not learn to breathe
Anything but the drowning water

The earth shifted
  Building higher plateaus and eventually
Eroding those into hills

But cracks formed in the layers
Of so much life lain down that turned a dirty white stone
Leaving room for Her to be born deep
From places such as this one
Where higher bluffs loom over the sky until noon
And water bubbles up from places below

Cold….
It sings

Such soft melodies of buried years
Braiding strands of quicksilver clear
Into the silt she carries

I’ve put my lips to this place of her beginning
To swallow her old
So I could know as I traveled her lengths what it was
That brought her to me
But this place is just one
And her soul is woven from many strings

Ron

You would have to have drunk from the beginning to write this awesome poem!

Ms Martie... I've drank from the beginning of many streams.. and they all taste different..yet all have the same qualities.
One them seems to be something of peace...

Ms H.  There is always more ma'am... I'm just not able to write it all at once.. even in short snippets, I tend to botch it up...
I thank you for the reply... and the eyes..

See, it's work like this which leaves me speechless.

I've spent enough time in the creek that me toes are webby...but?
do ya think its too late for us to grow gills?

Im going to pretend you wrote that part just for me.

I thank you...so does the river.

Yanno, I've only caught a few from this series but if they are representative of the whole...excellent.  Some folks are just born storytellers, it's very cool to know one of them.
