Moments to remember,
in the dawning of our love,
Skies went on forever,
~ no dark clouds stormed above.
Cuddled under coverlet,
  at the edge of evermore,
Seas of crystal blue,
  caressed our sandy shore.

Honeysuckled air,
sated souls as we did breathe.
The blending of our essences,
  caused senses to take leave.
Our spirits swayed in unison,
as caps rolled by and waved,
Etched in each other's heart,
  our name in stone, engraved.

This love of ours did not last,
  forever and a day.
His ship left our snug harbour,
  seeking high seas far away.
As he headed out of port,
with wild winds in his sail,
I collapsed by the seaside,
  in lamentive songs of wail.

As the topsail disappeared,
at the end of my world,
My hold on reality,
  slipped as my mind unfurled.
He had drunk of my love,
  then drained my sanity.
Depleted my self worth,
  ~ and all my dignity.

I sobbed in the sand,
â€˜til it washed out to the sea.
I longed for the return,
of my love to shores of me.
But to this very day,
  I cry to passing breeze,
Hoping he'll return,
  on doleful bended knees.

Moments to remember,
in the dawning of our love,
Skies went on forever,
~ no dark clouds stormed above.
Cuddled under coverlet,
  at the edge of evermore,
Seas were crystal blue,
  and caressed our sandy shore.

You rewrote the beginning at the end, never to forget.
This is a wonderful write Earth Angel, absolutely wonderful.
Albeit sad, very good.

JL ~

Yes, I have wonderful memories. Years of them! I let the sad times roll out to sea and kept the warm thoughts close to my heart.

Time has a way of healing and bringing new experiences into our lives that bring us great joy!

For the love of life and a life of love,
Linda

You have written my favorite topic...and
you have done it extremely well.  Perhaps
is because salt is in my veins....and my
eyes still search the horizon...looking
for love to again appear...

(big angel hugs) Oh Linda, you know how I don't like sad endings, this made me cry as there are so many who do have to endure these losses as there have been many unfortunate shipwrecks and castaways which have claimed so many sailors and passengers to the ocean! (sigh) This is sad but beautiful, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Ahoy there. Great rythym in this work and appreciated by one who so often employs nautical metaphors (even though raised in shoreless Pittsburgh)

While the message is poignant, your fairer nature ended the poem on the lighter memory and not in the slump. The difference between you half-fulls and we half-empties.

Magnus ~

You are a man after my own heart! ~ So to speak! lol

I suppose we are both hopeless romantics. You are a master of this genre so I truly appreciate your appreciation!

I have done paintings on these themes as well.

Warm kindred hug,

Earth Angel,

How beautiful, yet sad.  I copied these words before I read the rest of the poem.  They were bliss.  Hope it returns.

Honeysuckled air,
sated souls as we did breathe.
The blending of our essences,
  caused senses to take leave.
Our spirits swayed in unison,
as caps rolled by and waved,
Etched in each other's heart,
  our name in stone, engraved.

Earth Angel,
When virtual is sentual
And punctual was textural
Then truancy makes poignancy
And fantasy is ecstasy.
