Slave not thy toils in strain the raging heart
nor bring to fear the torch born flame most high.
For when the hands of banded then doth part
alone their ride shall wander darkened sky.

Sweet wine the lips shall kiss the waiting blush
and bring to seize thy hand most soft and white
Till streaks do cross on tears born in their rush
and carpets dance upon a clover’s lie.

If not the waters rage bring thee to me
my cry in thrice shall fall untended there
and lie most still the cold and darkened sea
before the winds do dance thy flaxen hair.

For thee art born of waters silent crest
and now in wait a final lover’s quest.

Sonnets make me giddy....pure cadence...
I love reading these gems aloud...
such lovely phrasing here Barry.
Kudos for taking this form on...tis not easy...my muse runs screaming from me when ever I read the "rules"
