It's time to take this old hurt and just let it bead up and roll away
I was naive back then, not an excuse but very true
Though I've cursed myself a thousand times since then
I know that I hurt you

But guess what my friend? I got hurt in the process too but never learned how to say that out loud
Instead I allowed you to turn it all on me, as I faded into the crowd
I said I was sorry, and I'll say it again
It was myself who I hurt the most in the end

I'm glad you moved on, all I ever wanted was for you to be happy and free
Even if that meant being happy with someone other than me
I too moved on, I only visit these pages when I need to release how I feel
Instead though I was blindsided for only pouring out my heart
I never knew having someone speak on your behalf was ever going to be the deal--

I was but a girl then, two years can change a person so much
Back then I did hurt almost everything I touched
I found myself though, and the reason I hurt so much inside
Now I no longer try to hide

I have embraced love, I have learned to accept me for me
So now I will let this pain bead up and roll away
I will no longer feel guilty
Instead I will allow myself to be free

I forgive myself, and I no longer care if you do too
Amazing how in a split second it all came rushing back
Amongst all the lies that were told, one thing remains very true
We can't take back the things we say or do

However we can move on, we can learn from our mistakes
I've done just that
So the pain is rolling off now like water, it's time I forgive myself for hurting you
I'm done with the heartache, the countless times I've thought I was dirt
Most of all though I'm done with blaming myself for something that definitely took two--

Very well expressed Amy, and also a feeling I think many of us can sympathize with.  You write it out here any time you feel like it gal.

The greatest beauty on earth, is
found in the hearts of those
who love....

Hi, Amy! With each poem of yours I read, I feel that I get to know you better. You write from the heart and bring the reader into your world. Learning life lessons can be difficult ~ but worth the rewards!
