Lightning

It’s hit everywhere by now, right?

If you think of a billion years or so
there must have been a lightning bolt
for every square foot of this planet,
and a whole lot of ‘em left over.

Picture the time-lapse recording,
plasma spikes stabbing everywhere
and oh man, the noise!

Maybe not just here though.
I mean, it would have hit here,
but when it did maybe this place
wasn’t exactly here at the time.
Things move around you know,
so it could have been overlooked
in all the hullabaloo.

This explains continental drift:
they’re all dodging desperately,
trying to keep the losses down.

Very nice! I love a good poser.

(umm, that's "poser", as in "question"...LOL)

Darn hullabaloo is enough to drive a person mad,
and oh how the losses sadden me.
Yes, dear Ed,  the lightning can be interpreted so many ways,
and your introspection is like none other.

"Dodging drift?"
Now that's poetic license.

Ed,  you brought in a whirlwind of thoughts
with this one....  I call them thinkers,
cause they make the reader start to ponder
and think about the message....

Good Job!!

What a nifty idea! I never thought of that as a reason for plate tectonics. But it makes sense to me.

I'd say the continental drift theory is now well explained.  Good job!  Ken

The only good thing about the werk monster keeping me on a short leash is that I get to read some poems several times before responding... Pondering this one has brightened many a project for me, my friend... I love the paths your words revealed... and I thank you for every step! *S*

Excellent write!!
