~* Sigh in Silence *~

Transfixed, she stands before the mirror,
Not recognizing her tired face.
Where has the bubbly woman gone
Who once wore such style and grace?

Those sad, blue, shrinking eyes
Once so big to light their way,
Do they now belong to this woman
She stares at so intently on this day?

Life has etched burrows on her face;
In tracks silent ruby tears have stained.
She was not in this mirror yesterday;
Poor soul looks tired and strained.

She can’t keep her lips from quivering,
Silence now makes her so uptight.
Where did that vivacious woman go
Who was the life of the party that night?

See, how her hands shake and tremble,
What causes that, is it fear?
I know her thoughts ~ she will survive,
For her, brighter days are far too dear.

In her silence she always finds the sun,
Driving away the darkest, gloomiest day,
Knowing that getting older is just state of mind,
She winks at herself, and then goes on her way.

To find the sun...Yes.

Ah - Sharon - this is touching - and I really like the ending -

hugs - Susan

Yes Sharon,  it most certainly is a state
of mind...and some days my mind screams it.

But the silence of this moment you have
shared is oh so real...

Thanx

Thank you for following my somewhat silent muse of late today,
and Barry ... it is because this moment actually did happen this very morning, after 4 days of a 50th Anniversary party, you tend to look a little rough, but ah, it was worth it!

Example is not the main thing in influencing others, it is the only thing.

Sharon

So very lovely...and speaks of how I am feeling right now...only I'm not as old as dirt...I'm as old as bigger things like rocks and mountains.

Oh that last part made the entire poem
a perfection...tremendous write!!!!

Thank you for sharing this beauty

I very much enjoyed your take on this subject and am honored that you were inspired by one of my writes.  Time didn't allow me to respond immediately but I have a feeling that isn't a bad thing as I am finding quite a few to read now.  Thank you for letting me know you were inspired and for the wonderful addition you presented us with.  Excellent last verse to wrap it up too by the way.
