I'd never seen a flea market
Didn't know what one was
But Nancy took me there
And I remember it, because....

I saw a clock that looked antique
But why was it so cheap?
I suspected that it was a quartz
So leaned o'er to take a peek.

I opened up the little door
And I could plainly see
The incriminating battery
Aha! You can't fool me.

I over-reached and swayed a bit
And held onto to the table
And what it was that happened next
I'll tell as best I'm able.

An overladen, wobbly shelf
A bang, a crash, a shout
Amidst a painfully vivid impression
That the lights had all gone out.

The stallholder came, surveyed the scene
Broken china, splintered wood
Said he'd write it off somehow
And he'd forget it, if I would.

I didn't mind, as I rubbed my head
And a lump began to appear
For I was pleased to carry home
Just one more souvenir.

Ah Mary, what fun we had eh?  Even when we got into mischief.
I will never ever forget the looks on people's faces when this happened.
I was so afraid you would have to be rushed to the hospital!
It seemed to be the only time we didn't have a camera handy.
Video and pics arrived today!  Brilliant!!
Thank you ever so much!!

Mary, there are many things that make a visit memorable.  I hope most of your memories are much less painful.

believe in what your heart feels...

Mary,  this is cute.  I can remember well
my first visit to a flea market...and you
are right...no fleas!  And I wondered as
well about how they sold some things so
cheap...until I looked more closely (without
leaning over)....
