Between the Lines

With Words

I feel the touch
of nothing
comparing it to memories.
Viewing the moments frame by frame
forgetting
what it felt like to walk hand in hand
across snow covered ground
under the moonlit sky.

Rummaging through drawers
trying to empty
what I have held onto
far too long,
all those I love you cards,
and diamonds are forever presents
and I just sink
that much further
into this chaos
that controls me.

It's a lost battle, already wasted years
in the waiting
for who knows what,
doomed to words
that decay from time to time.

A part of me is missing
leaving behind the tears that seem
to flow at the oddest moments
faking the happy, with sadness their reason.

I have pains, emptiness pains,
that shift locations unable to stay
within my heart, their ache wishing an out.
I remember wearing this when...
and the celebrations of...
becoming overwhelmed with the choices
to rid or not to, of once meaningful objects,
clothing, jewelry...

Then there is you,
who can bring a smile to this heart
that longs but doubts
the deserving of.

And so the tears fall
as I try to fill my empty days
with words.

"Love is not blind - It sees more and not less, but because it sees more, it is willing to see less."

And so the tears fall
as I try to fill my empty days
with words.

and a beautiful filling they become...sometimes they are the only place where we don't have to harbor any doubts about the suitors of the heart

Your mind turns to a lot of things.

What might have been, what was.

Supports vanished and self has to rise.

I loved those lines.  Made me wish....

Was discussing this very thought yesterday with a friend.

Very intense write.
Enjoyed, dear Maureen.

“into this chaos
that controls me.”

But isn’t that chaos the best part of living?
Love this poem!  It’s a keeper for me.
