It seems age
wears lines of memory

thin

and years disappear
seeming to fade

as mist

and what once was not said
is spoken

in hushed tones
with long pauses

and deep thought

of all the men
of all the strife
of heroes made
a world war won

and it is said
they were/are
the greatest

generation

and as I listen
I believe it so

Ed's challenge seems to have sparked some very wonderful poetic tributes and this one is no exception.  I too believe and you have done superb.

Mmmmm, thank you, my friends, for your kind replies and warm hearts - it is nice to finally hear the stories of my Father's- he is 84 now, and perhaps his youth seems closer rather than farther away - age tends to do that - when we're no longer too busy to remember -

Morning all -   Susan
