The first he When the first he of them spoke to me, he wrote sky sighs in sign language to this child woman that would become me, later, but then it was when belief was a facetious wooden nickel and my pockets were full, though splendor surrounded me as criticism ruled my world, when voices would not let go, yanking at my ankles with nips, tripping my way and dark strangers seemed favorably kinder in all ways. When he ambled towards them in leather jacket slouch hiding promise, those brooding coffee eyes and I don’t care appearance drew me in, but the voices would not let me reach out, refusal their spine to my damnation of their existence. His leather never wore my fingerprint but I find me still wishing it had. |
