sitting at the kitchen table
enjoying a cup of coffee
with heartbreak in the chair next to me
we sip our coffee
and talk of days gone by
my eyes are red
and i can't taste the coffee
but this pain seems familiar
and safe
i don't feel so alone anymore
this emotion has comfort hidden in it
i want to stay in this moment
where eveything is so cynically clear
but the thought of you're arms around me
clouds my eyes over
and reminds me of old movies
with vaseline on the camera len's

-side note-
i'm having a ROYAL case of writers block,so this was an attempt to get my juices flowing.
i got my inspiration from a line in a Billie Holiday song, "good morning heartache."

How many days I've started just so... though perhaps "enjoying" wasn't the apt description. *G*

I like this very much... the softened focus at the end is fantastic! *S*

I've been known to sit in that same chair from time to time.  well done.

The greatest beauty on earth, is
found in the hearts of those
who love....
