“You have too much respect upon the world:
They lose it that do buy it with much care.”

Forgive my doggerel format
an’ its country western time
or the fact that I won’t be a doormat
for clichés like “you’ll get ‘em next time”

keep it simple I shall for two reasons
one I’m rusty and two my free verse
is as sharp as a rose bush in season
you won’t read it but you’ll swear I curse

I no longer fight in the alleys
though I’m hardly a stranger there
where I’d hit, move on and not dally
now I say what I say in fresh air

by the way I don’t answer to ‘Lefty’
a mere angered American speaks
one betrayed by the silence while theft we
all suffer by neocon geeks

no bowin’ all mute while you boast
no, a man will speak out against wrong
it’s a shame I’m no ‘liberal milquetoast’
who won’t doggie up and come along

save us from your definition
of how we should be holdin’ our mouth
while you spout off a jingo-sedition
and unburied still haunt the ol’ south

In Words there are lofty inclusions
fair judgement is made on your Acts
but your politics are of exclusion
and attacks for the tact that you lack

please spare us all sermons on class
while forced a Paleolithic diet
and your notion that this too shall pass?
Trot that for the coming race riots

Lecture not your delusions of noble
and it’s pose of imperial fair
you’re the same folks who blew up Chernobyl
from a puff of Bill’s pubic hair

Of course you would wish us to silence
for your head gets real hot in that sand
to hear’s to acknowledge the violence
and you’d see where your scrawny legs stand

I admire and appreciate anyone who will stand up and speak their piece...
And I know you would do the same for me, should I ever choose to do so.

Well said Sir.
I stand and applaud you.

Now while the leaves still dance on the wind
While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?
Again..and again.

LOL. But the sweetest rose bushes always have thorns, and command respect.
No, not an ostriche POV.
I get tired of that 'maybe next time' too. Maybe there won't even be a next time.

Live like it's your last day...

Well sir, I most definately do not see where you are rusty at all in your writing and am so glad to see someone who is not afraid to say what is on their mind!  Kudos.

I'm not afraid to speak my heart
and bare my soul, I'd rather know
the truth.  What say you?

There's definitely no ostrich blood in you, perhaps you'd better learn to run fast...like the ostriches cousing the Emu. Love what you did with your doggerel verse.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

If the truth be known - the ostrich does not bury its head in the sand, but what should really scare you is that they can run like hell and could kick a human to death!  They play "dead" by bending their necks on the sand when they feel danger actually, thus making it appear their head is in the sand, so this poem is rather fitting Richard     and right on target.  No sand is ever going to collect on you that's for sure.

Enjoyed reading your work again.  Carpe Diem'
