Be Free (rewritten-can't seem to get it right)

Be Free
(My foot in my mouth)

I hear my words behind your tears, muffled…
And, I hear your voice but not your words.
I, to you, emerge as a stranger.

Although, you know who I am, you question why I say I must go,
you are willing and able to heal that living scar.

You whisper, “Why is this day here?  And, what is this I fear?
If you must leave, please, do so unwearyingly…

Wait, do not push me away.  I know that life’s scar is deep,
just wait, please stay…”

You press into my arms; our tears meet in concert rolling across our cheeks.
Our lips move and we become, again, that intertwined-one,
as with a new love, as though it had only just begun.

You held tight pressing again into my arms, and you knew me again,
Yet, I displayed my self-assured smile: my melancholy charm.

I moved back and away, to say to you I must go.
Your head down, again, you asked me to stay, but I insisted:
“No;
I really must go…”

You asked if I could understand, just what it was I was doing to you.
I turned toward the door, looked back, averting your teary stare, stopped,
then said…
“Be free…”

Now its lonely price, my heart’s pain will pay,
free from a true love I had,
free from then, to now,
and to the very end of my days…

know this feeling very well JL, from both sides of that spectrum....

There is nothing to change, you've gotten it just as it should be, and allow no one to tell you differently...
