A Mental Mountain

I climbed a mental mountains height
To see my sky of inner light
To weed illusion, pull the root
Feed upon realities fruit

But subtle time had changed the stage
My age now reads a different page
Reality had burned as fuel
And what was left was but a fool

A phantom calling on the past
That knows damn well the die was cast
I hold a bouquet turned to straw
Delusions full of evermore

The snow white dove is still as white
Thought age, has turned it dimmer bright
And sands of time cause skin to flake
A preparation for our wake

And I am left but fantasy
To fill my souls eternity

Good morning, Sy.  A tender love,
this poem, of life, and one
lived very well.  Without our small
failures, we would never know our
grander successes.

To Sy!

And I am left in the reality that your pen would be my fantasy.  Good morning sir and may your day be as strong as your wisdom.

While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?

Sy, your tender rhymes of humilty and self awareness touch me in so many ways...Life is a journey of discovery and evolution...
You encompass all the explorations with class and dignity...your intuitive vision is pure poetic clairvoyance.

Poetry is emotion put into measure.
The emotion comes by nature ...
but the measure is acquired by art.

I know of this place where the weary dove
flies the skies as light slowly dims ever
steadily into our horizon...as we dream of
times ago when warriors rode their steeds
upon the field of youth with fire.

Not so fast my poetic friend. Your words capture youth's exuberance, and splash it upon the page. There is joy in the twilight years. We don't grow older, we become wiser, more seasoned. A good thing.
