where the wild flowers grow

0 posted 2004-11-09 05:09 AM

Today was a hollow day,
tall as an evergreen,
and I hummed a melody unsung.

I hear you cry,
though the silence
is overwhelming.
The screaming rings in my ears..
But I could kiss your forehead until
life is over, and still,
I would miss it when
it's gone.

You are so clean,
ivory peace and innocense.
White like a dove's feather,
beautiful like snow.
Blue eyes so deep it seems
their stare never ceases.
I have fallen through them
over and over again..

I've come to fear I'll break you...
Sensitive, tiny bones beneath
soft skin.

I watch you bend
upon my shoulder,
slumber deeply, my love,
for I will protect you.

~~

She sleeps so beautifully,
tiny lungs heaving lightly.
Miniature fingers grasping
at soft, sweet smelling cloth.

I wonder what it is
that she is dreaming..

Of soft womb sounds,
light pounds of the heart
that will love her forever.

If time
were only so simple,
as to allow it
I would
take it with me
after death.

For you let me know
that I harbor a significant warmth..

One
that makes those melodies
into lullabies.

And they begin.
Your daughter already has
several reasons to love you so...
but now, the paper trail
will tell her
more.

and therein grows purpose, meaning, signficance, making it all worthwhile
She will be your teacher, and her yours
in much more yet to come...

Delightful read...thank you for sharing her with us

As Kari said, now the paper trail begins.   Some day she will smile when she reads them..
this is beautiful.

So very beautiful Meghan.
This floats down the page like a feather.
Your love for your tiny baby glows in this piece.
I do hope you save each and every thing you write about her..
for what a treasure they will be to her in years to come.
Heart hugs, Nancy~

Now while the leaves still dance on the wind
While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?
Again..and again.

Smiling at your beautiful song, Meg. These are the moments when you realize how very precious life really is, and how wonderful it is to both give and receive unconditional love.

What a lovely gift you have given your baby girl. A gift from a mother to her daughter. One day, this poem will bring tears of joy and love to her eyes...

I am happy for both of you.

Blessings of joy, good health and love,
EA

Wow! Mine will be 3 next month and this just makes me remember how little she used to be. Sniffle, Sniffle....time goes by so fast, treasure the time you have.

Ah dear lady motherhood suits you well. Cherish each moment as you do and it will be enough to see you through even the hard times. I love this gentle expression so much...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
