SITTing here
out of work
already counted 5 moons
since april brought me
orange blossoms and a pink slip,
drowning mochalattes by the trio
taking these pavement pounding dogs
out hunting in a vegan's world,
cradle to grave,
i grow more reclusive
with frustration
on this hiatus, as
each candle waves goodbye,
purple lace became
the world of plaid,
soon an erased canvas of blank birch,
brain becomes cauliflower,
with only these writes that drip
of my sinews ,indigo and red,
onto a shaking hand, pounding
blacktiles on a mime's mocking face,

who wants me anymore?
a 49 year old dirty whore
bleached blonde aging goddess poet
that merely squeaked by
in high school?

You make my heart weep - compassion spills from my cup -

My husband will soon be out of work as well - tis a hard row to hoe - especially if you don't fit into a special niche -

You are wanted - valued - needed -

This line hurt:

"a 49 year old dirty whore"

I wish you wouldn't do that.

It felt like a knife in my chest.

You are beautiful, and lady, don't talk about my friend that way. sigh

Well now Inked One...we have something more in common it seems.

For two years now, I have been searching through the rubble of a nine year employment, lost in a corporate down size.

I traded my high heels for work boots...black...they are sexier.

Now you know that life has more than one part, and the first reaction is fear...as it floods through the rest.  Your work life will recover...it is your inner life that is most precious.  Guard that with tenacity, and surf the rest with audacity!

What do you want to do with your new found freedom?

Hugs to you,
TD

It appears that you have forgotten who you truly are! ~ a Goddess!

Sorry to hear of your unemployment dilemma. I pray that that will soon be rectified.

And of course you know

That it's not what you do
or, what you've done that matters

It's who you are!

Hey I understand , so here is my hand .
My husband was put out of work at 49 , he had worked for a huge corperate company for over 20 years and he felt thay had just put him out on the scrap heap ... he struggled for the past 8 years with commission jobs and part time jobs ... finally 18 months ago he got a full time job , so never lose hope

Inky

"i am a nobody are you a nobody too? here hold my hand we can be nobodies together..." Great reply, Slick...

Us nobodies must stick together....

"Then there's a pair of us!"(E.D.)

Has the modern societies philosophy gotten to you Inky?
Do you define yourself by your work, have you forgotten how wonderful you make people feel when they read your expressions in stanza and verse? These things have immense value, at least to me..and from what I see in these forums, many other people. I admit that these values are not mathematical and only have high off-paper value, But the things that are beyond math, inexact things, are extremely important...honest admiration, love, and art-expression, to mention a few...Most unfortunately we live in a time that places very little value on those things....Perhaps because they are not physical commodities...

"How dreary -- to be -- Somebody!
How public -- like a Frog --
To tell one's name -- the livelong June --
To an admiring Bog!"

(Thank you, Emily D.)

It seems that those that admire from the "bog" do not see you, and I know the problem is that the bogites are the ones that write the paychecks..and in practicality, you must submit yourself before their admiration.. that you must continue to do so..and must " tell your name the livelong June".. But even if they are blind, you are seen here (in pip)as much more than a "no body"

We want you evermore!

ask not who wants
but ask instead
who is worthy
of one that has witnessed
the vision of life
as you have

when you interview
ask them to convince you
that they are worthy

you will be pleased

.... maybe you're looking in all the wrong places ...
... maybe its the wrong time ...

                 ... the wrong places ....

You said yourself, you don't often respond
          individually to heartfelt words ...

... maybe such want is not only just in the giving ....

                       ...... forevermore

The honest out-pouring from your guts has spawned a plethora of likewise replies. I was really moved by them and felt like I got to know some of our friends a bit better! ~ Like how old they are! lol

Michele, you truly are special to us all ~ as is evident in the warm words your have received in response to your expose. You know that I am a HUGE fan of your writing and I do believe, that who we truly are, is revealed through one's poetry. You write from your soul ~ and your soul is beautiful. Forget any minor blips and pimples. You ARE beautiful ~ inside and out.

Remember, "and this too shall pass!" These down times can be the pits! But chew them up and spit them! You can do it! ~ Afterall, you truly are a goddess! ~ 'Cause this "angel" says so!!!

Love & Goddess Light!

Amen

I thank you my King of Kings for giving me this word,
to share with others, as they read,
their vision un-blurred…

Love that you have given all,
Love that is offered so free,
so perfect and most wonderful,
this Love you’ve given all, and given me…

Love is the word for all to hold,
and in their heart to plea,
so bow your head and pray for love,
and peace for all to see.

As John the apostle spoke it,
both then and now assured;
“In the beginning was the word…
and the word was with God,
and the word was God.”

The word of Love He has given me,
to share with you today,
if right now you would agree,
then stop for a moment to pray…

Open your heart for peace and Love;
He will surely pour it in,
for you are deeply Loved,
forgiven, and washed from worldly sin…
Amen...
He promised us all

A mansion has been built for you.
It has your name inscribed in gold.

First you must live your life as best you can
Then when He calls you
You can take His hand

He promised us all…

Oh yes...been there, done that...
Hubby was always transferred, and it was
me who had to find another position...
and then suddenly some 14 years ago,
he was downsized and out, and could never
get "that" type of job again...

All of these replies, Michele!  So many people
who are holding out their hand, loving you,
letting you know you are NOT alone...

I guess you could just attach this poem and the responses to your resume and say, "See?"

there are somethings great in being an ordinary person

You don't have to hide from the papparazzi
you don't have to worry about losing your millions in a stock crash
you don't have to invent excuses about being busy on the weekend to handsome suitors only interested in a warm body
you don't have to defend  elaborate arguements that go with college and university degrees
and there are more ordinary people than specially qualified forever young ones...
you can enjoy life no matter what age you are, no matter how affluent or how simple...

I think I will join Susan C. with the hug.
You have seen many words from fellow poets,
many thoughts of the same direction...and
above all,  the understanding,  compassion
and caring from each...we all wish you well,
and we know you are a special person.
