Beyond this fascination of distinguished coats
Shed about the wind such fine decorum notes
Still sweet the scent of melon rinds
Deposed of drink the earth declines
November to remember as the day unwinds

My heart hears melody beneath the surfaces
Where nature has resolved to be twin likeness
I find my place upon my knees
Eye to eye with the smallest of clemencies
Among the earthy woods, and cedar trails tall

Shedding clothes and shedding me a moment to befall
To nougat pinkened bisque, buffed smooth like cream
More November ember than far before has seen
Held still the expectation, indexed of winters whispered chill
More than touch anticipates its magic charms at will

Along the curve of graceful spine, a long and tender stroke
Turning face to ecstasy in pulsing moments soak
Made prone upon this season’s bliss, my heart enthralled as this
And waiting to be found the purpose here upon the ground
My eyes will feast upon the snow, so soft beneath the winds that blow

As one in soul and solitary, claimed and ardent dignitary
The Sentinels embrace, enchanted passages enlace
Their silent wisdom given tongue, consoling strolling
As this, a brief encounter given in the autumn’s kiss
And I, the fall to take as prize, we meet again ‘neath arbor eyes

Kathleen, I do not believe even the masters found within their pens a finer tribute to Autumn ...

You should be quite proud of this, and I hope, someday, to see it in print...

You have a talent, my friend, that should be showcased.

You should be published!
~Smiles & Hugs, Nancy~

Now while the leaves still dance on the wind
While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?
Again..and again.

There is a certain sensuality about this time of the year that just spills over into the soul.  I admire your talent very much in all of your writes but this one is probably my favorite by far.  It holds a beauty within it's lines that showcase some excellent metaphors and the personifications are without measure.  This I think will go into my library.
