Marching into darkness
Try to light the way
Candles of hope to no avail
We simply fail

Walk on a desperate path
Alone we are the blame
Hindered by deceit
Lies line our breath

Veils cover our shame
Only she can see
A dark night is forever
Forever is she

The path knows no pitty
Burning empathy is our only comfort
Burn here and now
Forever will we be forgiven

Stephen, you encourage critiques. Wonderful!  Work on your spelling, and continue to learn, as you indicate in your own comment.  Poetry takes time, talent CAN be acquired, as I can sense that your poem  comes from within, from your sensitivity to share that drive within yourself...

When one has promise, one should continue exploration.  Will look forward to more, once again...

Welcome home.

It is a learning process for us all.  I enjoyed reading your thoughts and look forward to more.

The greatest beauty on earth, is
found in the hearts of those
who love....
