The babble of Spring warbles a tune
upon a smooth stoned brook of crystal
eyes.   Eyes that glimmer and sparkle
the stars of night as fireflies reflect
the still pool.

Such were these times of ago, when
youth wore clothes of the sheep and
a shepherd herded a wandering flock.

A time of peacefulness, of wandering
thoughts and will.  Of whispering
giggles on a yellow brick road and
ponytails that yearned to be lightly
tugged.

A moment when morning’s freshness
showered shoulders wearied of
yesterday’s load...and coffee swirled
the staircase into the attic’s mystery.

Those pools, once invited me, called
me in for a brisk and bumpy gasping
dunk of pure waters.  A place where
young lives unashamedly left cotton
lying softly upon a shore...and simple
blushes turned a rose to white.  When
all were equal and never judged.

It is Fall here, leaves have dotted my
brow repeatedly and now dreams
yearn, ache to feel again the smooth
stones that babbled.  When youth
wore innocence and wars had yet to
scar countless souls...until their
winters bore them to a shallow
grave....remembered....always.

There is a subtle majesty to this particular write.  Something different about the tone.
Enjoyed completely,

A most remarkable write Barry...
Excellent, ..with a powerful statement.

My lost youth was not so sweet...I wish it was.  Can picture this.  Times change, yes...and every age has its innocence.  Loved your poem, my friend...very!
