November Ponderings

November calls the heart back home
To hearth and pumpkin pie
‘Twas geese who fled  this graying dome
To seek a bluer sky

And I seek but a warmer bed
A quilt of eider down
The remnants of a goose who fled
The bleaker fringe of town

Prefer I this, an icy cage
To life’s most southern shore?
Would I not fly this frigid stage,
To strut through summer’s door?

Some think as though a feathered fowl
The season is to be
Tis winter makes us prisoner
And spring that sets us free

But I, in an impending storm
Hold with a rabbit’s whim
To seek a hollow soft and warm
And safely burrow in

For ice does not a spirit bind
Nor hold a mind apart
And love is love, and will unwind
The wanderings of a heart

Oh Elizabeth,..this is SO beautiful
and creates such a cosy mood.
The above stanza jumped out at me as
just a few days ago I got out my heavy duvet for the bed!
November does make us think and do these things...wonderful write!

Elizabeth,
I sit upon a fence or rail
Stalled within a doldrums sail
And cannot see beyond the mists
No matter how the heart insists
But time will do what time will do
And I can but await the new.
Your write is excellent, Sy

To seek a hollow soft and warm
And safely burrow in

When such a hollow is found, it matters not how the winds howl or where the ice creeps. *S* This is beautiful, dear lady! *S*
