Upon a journey of discovery
I set out to find myself
Through grief my heart lay bleeding
And my life rested on the shelf

As I began to lose direction
In many pieces my heart lay
It was broken beyond repair
The day my father passed away

My life was out of focus
For I had lost my guiding light
So much sadness overwhelmed me
As the day turned into night

Then one day I found a purpose
As I took my pen in hand
A great weight had been lifted
As my heart took command

My words were helping others
Which was the ultimate prize
I felt much kindness and compassion
As my heart grew in size

Now my journey is far from over
But I have travelled far and wide
I've been comforted by so many
Who remain close by my side

My newfound love of writing
Has helped repair my broken heart
You've encouraged and inspired me
Of my life, you're now a part

Dedicated to all the wonderful people
I have met through my love for the
written word.Although we may be far
in distance, our words keep us close
at heart

I know just how much writing has helped me in grieving and exploring and thinking and figuring out... and in meeting and reading other great people - like you
