         Deep Heart

         She took what I offered
little that I thought it was

         A reserve
         hidden in deep recess
         untouched for many years

         I hadn't realized
         that I was offering anything
or much less what it was

         She had to tell me
         and then I knew
         I had given it away
         willingly

Isn't it amazing
when someone who loves us
holds up a mirror
to show us why?
