This is not a raised flat land or plain
this city carries a region of this name
where speculators buy condos on the rise
older residents are squeezed from this hive

Not the residents who are hardly there
who stock homes with floor crystal wares
but taxpayers on lower income rungs
who pay rent as cost increases are flung

it's a story played out the world over
might as well jump from the cliffs of Dover
lower duplexes replaced with something higher
and the issue of rent puts pocket books on fire..

but from the outside all is genteel
with the air the world's all but real
not a raised flat land or plain
distinctive district gets its name.

Just try to keep an edge on the increase as I do, but don't jump a cliff! .... what else can I say except don't vote for Bush..middle class incomes will be cut even further.
