On a cold dark night I traced your eyes in the dimming light
Watching
Darkness hiding the glow of your power
Walls watching your sense of belonging
Confidence your only trait
To the longing in your heart
Of justice
To meet upon
Your son

When they took me
Your words saved me
Because you could translate my vision
And tell my story
I was old
You were young
We were ageless
We had no choice
I had no hope
They circled the tent
My life on your breath
As custom dictates

The dance of my dreams
From which I never woke
In your eyes
My life
Within you
For when the blackness comes
And you have become
My mother
And I my father's son
Then as custom dictates
I must meet justice
And on all
I must stake
