que palabras, estas que descansan
en el abrazo de la muerte y encuentran
asi consuelo?

He on dark silence
Where lies the in between
Of one breath and one heartbeat
Missing

I woke gasping to the murk of 2AM
And knew he was as close as the one breath
I took then stopped
Till forced by some unknown struggle
To breathe again

Only to catch glimpses of him
Smiling as he can when someone
Not yet on his list
                   Understands

I spoke
                He grinned
And waved a hand at me
  As if to say

“Soon enough, my friend”

but left me there in my own sweat
to figure out how long
and to ponder
                         when

then turned to walk into his own shadow
a speck of dark into darker

still

while I in sudden shaking cold
realized what it was to offer three fingers
to a guest
and find my own glass dry

and my words
                         as empty as
him

Very dark words, Captain, chilling but well written. I hope all is well with you!

Liked your words a lot

We seek understanding
Of our descent
Our arrival
To seek
Our future
And return

Ron

Very interesting and a bit different for you...but still filled with your skilled writing and emotional pull.     Oh, and Happy Halloween!

Next time give him my address.

What the hell, I'm not doing anything anyway...

sighing with you here

You sound as tired as I, Cap.

Well m'friend

I see our old and grim acquaintance is still hanging around, and free-loading to boot!

I tell ya! Next time, HE should bring a bottle! Or, at the very least, a good story or two.

yes, very dark and haunting....

the words without meaning....glad they are JUST words

then again.....
we all are haunted by him....

He passes our doorstep daily,  sometimes
pausing for just a moment.  It is then
when we hold our breath...and exhale in
a cold sweat,  wondering if tomorrow might
be "our day"...

Excellent write Captain...I know of this
feeling tooooo well.

You would post something like this on Halloween wouldn't ya?   I have had that guy visit me when uninvited as well, and I guess we wake up in a cold sweat because we are not giving in to him, or let's hope so.  Chilling read Ron.

Oh, you speak to me in riddles
and you speak to me in rhymes
My body aches to breathe your breath
Your words keep me alive
