It is like this some days
when yellow and gold-red foliage
skitters cheekily across concrete, blacktop,
and grass that seems to crunch
beneath my feet

the year was that dry

when Kansa winds blow up
living again in name, and spirits
begin to sound their call of another time

as you sneak back in for a brief moment
and while I could, if I chose,
decide to reflect upon the bad,
I only feel
the ending.

I wonder, would you have paid
his bill, had you realized me sent me a note
across the table for a date after
the decree was inked

and did he watch you then, upon
those courthouse steps in another state
as you kissed me goodbye
for the last time

in the year that was dry?

Dancing with the wind
On steps
Climbng to the sky climbing down in thunderous lighting
Sparking electric bolts earthing in land yet untilled

LOL at you, Inked one...Chutzpah is everywhere...sometimes we refer to it
in a more "basic" way...

Thank you for reading, Dave!
