Caught within the confining confluence
of multi-cultural, multi-lateral disintegration,
echoing sorrow’s surround sound

the deafening shrill warning of finality’s call
takes the breath from me
       leaving me shattered,
like so many pieces of some priceless heirloom vase
life...scattered defiantly on a cold marble floor,
left as useless residue in a myriad of moribund memories.

(We manage to manipulate ourselves
to somehow accept this daily, remaining unconscious)

Spirit me away quickly, I beg,
from this shattered world of remnants,
bastion of broken dreams battering the soul
at the very core of the here and now.

(Absurdity of an existence that seems to hold
no meaning worthy of its allotted space.)

The sweet song of a promising tomorrow
is much too faint to hear, hope falling on ears
deafened by the pain of today’s screams.
Sorrows sounds surround me with fears.
The screams are too loud, too clear, too near,
and bleeding me dry of my love for humanity.

Spirit me away quickly, I beg,
to another realm, a Valhalla,
for I care not to linger any longer within
this tumultuous sea of death and despair.
